Lesson 8 of 10

The wreck and the raft: the Andes and the Atlantic

45 min

A wrecked aircraft, a broken-down vehicle or a life raft is the biggest, most visible thing in a landscape or seascape. It offers shelter and materials. Searchers look for it. That is why module 1 teaches that you stay with the vehicle or aircraft, and why sailors are taught to step up into a life raft only when the boat is truly lost and then to stay with it.
