Lesson 10 of 12

Filters: what they stop and what they miss

35 min

A filter is the treatment most people now carry on British hills, and for good reason. It is light, it works in seconds rather than minutes, it needs no fuel, and the water tastes of water. But a filter is a sieve. It stops what is bigger than its holes and lets through what is smaller. Knowing which side of that line each hazard falls on is the whole skill.
