Lesson 4 of 15

Showers, local winds, weather lore and lightning

45 min

At ten o'clock on a hot July morning the sky over the ridge is dotted with small, neat white clouds. By eleven, the ones over the higher ground to the west are noticeably taller than they are wide, with hard, bright, bubbling tops. The summit is ninety minutes away. The forecast mentioned "a chance of thunder later". Two walkers coming down tell you it is glorious on top.
